Money doesn't grow on trees, But paper Does

I don’t entirely know what’s wrong with my sister, we live in a wonderful rich community, we are privileged in so many ways and we aren’t dead. Sure we don’t live in the best part of the city, and we don’t have everything everyone else has but we’re so much better than the people in places like Rwanda and Iraq so what’s wrong?

My sister found out her cello is cheap.

I don’t understand her drive to have things that are so expensive. She wants brand name everything and gets mad if she gets Shasta instead of Pepsi etc. She wants what other people have and when she gets it she gets mad because everyone else has better things. She says that she’d be happier if she was dead or in Iraq and that some family there would probably have it better off than she has. I haven’t been to places like Iraq but I’m pretty sure that the other girls her age aren’t getting private lessons to play 5000 dollar cellos with bows encrusted with abalone shell on the frog.

It’s as if life’s a competition for her, when she was little she wanted a two story house. Then it became one with a balcony in her room, then one with a pool and a canopy four poster in her room. Now instead she wants to go to play expensive instruments and wear 50.00 shirts and go to Broadway productions and she expects our father to pay for it all. What’s the competition you ask?

She only wants these things because her friends have them

“Life’s not worth living if you don’t have a PSP, or a pool or an air hockey table.” She says. I’m sorry sister but I’ve lived pretty long without any of those things and I’m not dead yet obviously. “But my friends have them!” She whines. That’s nice, one of your friends also has diabetes and the other one has Cerebral Palsy do you want those too?

I don’t understand her problem, it’s like she really wants to be a hair flipping moron for the rest of her life she can.

Ugh, done venting.
